Margin & Markup
Add up the job’s cost, then price it by target margin, by markup, or check a price you already have. Set your own floor and see a warning when a price falls below it.
Enter your numbers to see results.
Formulas used
- Total cost = product + adders and accessories + install labor + other costs
- Price from margin = total cost ÷ (1 − margin ÷ 100)
- Price from markup = total cost × (1 + markup ÷ 100)
- Margin = (price − cost) ÷ price × 100
- Markup = (price − cost) ÷ cost × 100
- Floor price = total cost ÷ (1 − floor margin ÷ 100)
Financing estimate
Estimate a homeowner’s monthly payment from numbers you enter: project price, down payment, the rate and the term. Compare up to three terms side by side and print a payment options sheet.
Enter your numbers to see results.
Estimate only. Not a credit offer or a quote of terms. We do not provide lenders or rates. The lender’s approved terms decide the actual payment.
Formulas used
- Amount financed = price − down payment + financed fees
- Monthly rate r = APR ÷ 100 ÷ 12
- Payment = amount × r ÷ (1 − (1 + r)^−months); with a 0 rate, payment = amount ÷ months
- Total paid = payment × months + down payment
- Total interest = payment × months − amount financed
Job profit & break-even
Put one job’s real costs in: product, install labor, permits and disposal, commission and overhead. See net profit, the break-even price and the lowest price that still hits your target margin.
Enter your numbers to see results.
Formulas used
- Labor = hours × hourly rate
- Direct cost = product + labor + permits, disposal and other
- Commission = sale × commission % ; overhead = sale × overhead %
- Net profit = sale − direct cost − commission − overhead
- Break-even price = direct cost ÷ (1 − (commission % + overhead %) ÷ 100)
- Minimum price at target = direct cost ÷ (1 − (commission % + overhead % + target %) ÷ 100)
Rep commission
Work out what a rep earns on a job and in a month. Pay on the sale price or on gross profit, split with a partner rep, and compare the month against a draw.
Enter your numbers to see results.
Formulas used
- Gross profit = sale − job cost
- Commission pool = basis × rate ÷ 100 (basis is the sale or the gross profit)
- Rep share = pool × rep split ÷ 100; partner share = pool − rep share
- Monthly = rep share × jobs per month
- Against draw = monthly − draw
Opening size converter
Enter a rough opening, pick the install type and set the deductions from your manufacturer’s instructions. Get the order size in sixteenths, plus united inches and square feet for the opening.
Enter your numbers to see results.
Example deductions only, not industry or manufacturer figures.
EyeWall™ puts every opening on a floor plan with its size.Learn more →Formulas used
- Order width = rough width − width deduction
- Order height = rough height − height deduction
- United inches = order width + order height
- Square feet = order width × order height ÷ 144
- Sizes round down to the nearest 1/16 inch
Glass weight
Estimate the glass-only weight of a laminated lite and a whole order of them: enter the size, both glass thicknesses, the interlayer and the quantity.
Enter your numbers to see results.
Formulas used
- Area (ft²) = width × height ÷ 144
- Weight per lite (lb) = area × [ (outer + inner glass, in) ÷ 12 × 156 + interlayer (in) ÷ 12 × 66.8 ]
- 156 lb/ft³ is soda-lime float glass at 2,500 kg/m³ (EN 572-1); 66.8 lb/ft³ is PVB at about 1.07 g/cm³
- kg = lb × 0.4536
Turtle glass check
Check the published visible light transmittance (VLT) of each make-up on a coastal job against the threshold in the local ordinance. The model ordinance defines tinted glass as 45% or less inside-to-outside transmittance.

Reference only, not legal or code-compliance advice. The ordinance for the property and the local building department decide what is accepted. Construction seaward of the Coastal Construction Control Line also falls under Florida Building Code, Building, Section 3109.
Formulas used
- A make-up meets the threshold if its published VLT ≤ threshold
Opening takeoff sheet
List the openings room by room. The sheet totals the count by type, united inches and square feet, and prints as a clean opening schedule.
Enter your numbers to see results.
Formulas used
- United inches per opening = width + height
- Square feet per opening = width × height ÷ 144
- Line totals = per-opening figure × quantity
Every result is an estimate from the numbers you enter. Nothing is pre-filled with our figures, nothing leaves your browser, and your last inputs are saved on this device only. Not engineering, legal, tax or lending advice.
